Our Story
Cheesecakes by Jo began with something simple: a love for creating desserts that make people smile.
For years, I worked in roles that paid the bills but didn’t truly light me up. What I always came back to was the kitchen — where I could pour my heart into baking, experimenting with flavours, and sharing what I made with friends and family. Their joy reminded me that food isn’t just food — it’s connection, it’s love, it’s memory.
In 2025, I decided it was finally time to say yes to my dream. I started Cheesecakes by Jo with one clear vision: to handcraft cheesecakes with love, using only the finest ingredients, so cafés, events, and families could share something truly special.
Every cheesecake is made with care, by hand, right here in Kapiti. My flavours range from timeless classics like Lemon, Chocolate, and Vanilla, through to seasonal gems like Feijoa. I also love creating cheesecakes for life’s big moments — weddings, gender reveals, and celebrations where a dessert becomes part of the story.
This business is more than a job for me — it’s my passion, my purpose, and my way of spreading joy. My goal is to grow Cheesecakes by Jo into something much bigger, supplying cafés, vineyards, and supermarkets across New Zealand. But no matter how big we get, one thing will never change: every cheesecake will always be made with the same love and authenticity that started it all.
